Rob M The most beautiful love story of all time. Yes - a bold statement. But as I approached middle age, this film took me to a place of purity, innocence, genuity, and nothing short of magic. Frida the outcast - unique, different, strange? Assigned to study with grade A student Marius. At first a seemingly total difference in personalities, approach and character reveals an undeniable chemistry, fused by eachothers pain and life-pressures. As they begin to open up to eachother, what emerges is not imperfection or incompatibility that one might expect, but instead the revelation of hidden layers of each other's lives. Despite their differences, they both share pressures, pain and fear for what is expected of them, respectively. Navigating the baggage that each of them held before they met, they soon start to experience (unconsciously, at least) that their so-called counterpart holds the key to setting the other free - but can they allow their defences and fears to dissipate in order to allow something far more beautiful than the individual sum of its parts to thrive? Following the ups, downs and hurdles of their paths, after immense resistance to what their hearts call for - especially Marius - they emerge as true enigmas that set eachother free in the most wholesome and magical of ways, by showing that love can conquer fear - and in front of everyone who means something to each of them. Personally, this film touched, uplifted and inspired me in ways laid dormant for many years, and provided hope and optimism for what is yet to come - even at the ripe old age of 40. This film - touched me profoundly - and is a true marvel of what can be achieved when we focus on what our hearts are telling us. Truly unique and marvellois. Unforgettable for the rest of my life. I thank everyone involved in the making of this immensely sweet, challenging and eventually deeply inspiring moment in film history. I certainly felt sorry for the titular character and I thought the cast did a good job - Marius was particularly well portrayed by Jonas Tidemann. He comes across as a very conflicted person, trying to make his own way as it were. I thought it was both quite sad and thoughtful at times (in some scenes) and also amusing and almost joyful in one or two other scenes - a nice mix. I'd definitely recommend this film, yes. The main plot may seem a little stereotyped but I thought it was a pretty memorable film that hanled the subject matter well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Must see!
