Audience Member WTF? I watch a lot of Troma movies and this one falls somewhere in the middle. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member An oddball film that tells the story of Pixie, wife of a paleontologist, afflicted with a Kafkaesque curse that turns her into a pterodactyl after her husband disturbs sacred ground will digging for fossils. Beverly D'Angelo throws herself completely into the role, delivering what must be the strangest performance of her career as she squawks, flaps and generally freaks out in a scenery-gnawing frenzy. The first half of the film is quite good, poking sly fun at suburban superficiality, New Age nonsense and airheaded political correctness. Dame Edna has three cameos as three different minor characters. Halfway through, though, the film veers off the rails and just turns bizarre and nearly incoherent, going so far as to insert a strange musical number that has D'Angelo singing a song about blue martinis. An Irish guru, a government cryptozoologist and a professor of something or other team up to figure out what to do about the pterodactyl woman, who might be some kind of security threat. She literally lays an, which they take away, then return to her... and it hatches... and then some other weird stuff happens and there are multiple scenes shot with fish-eye lenses. "Pterodactyl Woman" is entertaining most of the time, even when it's being weird for weirdness' sake. It's Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" meets "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." And it's *strange.* Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know what bet Beverly D'Angelo lost in order to have to make this movie. But it was amazing.
