Ruby C If you like horror, quirky and comedy then this is for you. There are several stories that will have you laughing out loud and wondering what outrageous story is coming next. Much like "Tales from The Crypt" this is a fun, twisted, and gory anthology that centers around a radio host that plays none other than classical music. Well written, well acted, well told stories that are definitely worth a watch especially now that spooky season is upon us. It's entertaining, outrageous, and the set design, cinematography and editing is more than expected. It will definitely keep you entertained from start to finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review James C I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started watching Pulp Modern. But I could immediately tell that this was a well shot horror anthology. Unlike a lot of horror shorts out there I could see that the crew knew what they were doing when filming! I really enjoyed the variety of styles of the shorts as well, including, slasher, monster, murderous cockatoos, and a thriller, all with a comedic twist! The use of practical effects is always appreciated in indie films. And this anthology was no exception. There will be plenty of blood, severed limbs and gory wounds for the horror aficionado. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/10/24 Full Review Kris Y I recently watched Pulp Modern: Die Laughing and was thoroughly entertained by this wild horror anthology. The film is a thrilling blend of dark humor and horror, reminiscent of classic 80s anthologies like Tales from the Crypt. Each of the five stories is unique, delivering a mix of scares and laughs, with standout moments like a satanic parrot and a demonic mirror that taps into psychological horror. The framing narrative, led by the charismatic DJ Mr. C, ties everything together perfectly, making it a cohesive and engaging experience. Even if you're not usually a fan of anthologies, this one is worth checking out for its creativity and fun factor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Melissa L I thought this was a well-acted and original collection of vignettes along the lines of "Creepshow." I definitely recommend it! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Richard W It was the perfect blend for me personally! I like 80s rock and horror movies and this one had both in spades. The films also felt individual which was great, shout out especially to the first and last short films which were nice book ends. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review CJ J I enjoyed watching Pulp Modern, and even more surprisingly - so did my wife, who typically won't watch horror films. Five shorts, each very well done, each are probably the best ways to experience horror films these days. I enjoy a good scary movie, but sadly, they are few and far between. This one does have some laughs as advertised, but more importantly, uses character actors they are anything but typical. In fact, many are so perfectly cast, I wondered "where did they find these performers?" While horror anthologies like Tales from the Crypt come to mind, I think this one's vibe is actually closer to "Tales from the Dark Side". The pace is snappy, direction tight, writing good, and the production values exceed what many lower-budget films offer. And it has a malevolent cockatiel! Check this one out, you'll enjoy yourself!
