Queen Mimi is a comforting balm for the soul. Go to Full Review

It succeeds on putting a very human face on the dire problem, but the one it's selected is hardly emblematic. Go to Full Review
Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times 05/12/2016
Rokah gradually exhumes the hardship of surviving the streets of Los Angeles for four decades and the associated stigma and shame that have prevented Haist from reaching out to family. Go to Full Review

It was really interesting. The documentary's really sweet... Mimi herself is adorable and really funny to watch. Go to Full Review

It's right that the respectful Queen Mimi lives up to its name doesn't condescend to its regal subject. Filmed over five years, it allows her to be a friendly guide through her life. Go to Full Review

08/06/2019 I was frustrated by the end. No clear answer as to why the family connection was broken so long ago. Why did she choose to be homeless? How was she left penniless after a divorce? I didn't understand the attraction movie stars had to her either. I did not find her a particularly interesting person. The hero of this story was the owner of the laundromat, Stan Fox, in my opinion. See more 11/20/2018 Loved this documentary! I can not help but think of the thousands who are out there on the streets. Perhaps with no one to love them, little food or shelter. It is gut wrenching to know folks suffer as they do. It was an inspiring film. Mimi was inspiring and at the same time deeply human and flawed as we all are. I wish Mimi the very best in her life and all the other countless Mimi's in the world. See more 08/04/2018 I loved watching this documentary. It's one of those films that make you think, but not too hard - just sit back and enjoy the entertainment. I think one doesn't have to wonder further than the liquor bottle to know why she ended up on the streets, but I do understand how that can happen as I have a sister-in-law that did the exact same thing. We have no idea if she's alive or dead to this day and she NEVER reaches out to find out if her daughter is alive, dead or whatever. Mimi's obviously an alcoholic that either can't or chooses not to become sober. I see this was filmed a couple of years ago and wonder where she is now; still alive; etc. See more 11/23/2016 Mimi just showed us how to make the best out of life, with her spirit and love. A must see film when you think life is hard... See more 11/06/2016 This is a very sweet, genuine documentary. Watch it. See more 11/04/2016 Mimi is a unique type of homeless person that is not crippled with mental disorders or substance abuse. I liked that they but a spotlight on an empathic person for this issue but I still don't know why she chose to be homeless or why so many notable people wanted to help her out. Other than being a fixture in a wealthy location I don't get the notoriety. See more Read all reviews
