Synopsis
Documentarian Macky Alston, having long aspired to be a Presbyterian minister, questions continuing with his seminary training when another gay student, Alan Smith, dies of AIDS. Wondering how a loving God could permit so much suffering, Alston interviews many struggling people of diverse faiths, from his own cancer-stricken adviser to Smith's devout parents. While thinking about their answers, Alston tries to reconcile his faith with the misery he sees around him.
