David Cronenberg's second work is not as energetic as the first. However, with all its ups and downs, the story of a rabies pandemic is not boring and would serve as a model of inspiration in the future; 28 days later and World War Z, to go no further.

Rabid offers one of the more realistic portrayals of a zombie outbreak, albeit with some hallmark Cronenberg embellishments. Suspense slowly builds throughout with the help of an anxiety inducing score. I would definitely watch this again.

An expertly directed indie horror film of the 70's that exudes the kind of energy found in more well-known staples like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and so forth. Underrated entry from Cronenberg.
