Alex C It's interesting take on zombies, the acting was really good and the gore was decent. I think it could have been better but overall I would recommend. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A remake of the 1977 David Cronenberg original 'Smallville' and 'Supergirl' star Laura Vandervoort plays Rose whom works as a seamstress for a high fashion design company She's always felt out of place and not quite deemed beautiful but her friend Chelsea has always had her best interest A photographer she works with also is interested in her Things change though after a misunderstanding at a night club, Rose runs away upset and gets into a car accident It leaves her face disfigured and her body scarred making her feel like a monster But she hears about this experimental stem cell skin treatment at a clinic that could fix things After the procedure it looks as if she's cured and she can get her life back on track but little does she know that the surgery has side effects; Rose has developed an uncontrollable desire for sex and a thirst for human blood Several instances she passed out and can't remember what happens to unsuspecting victims and now there's an outbreak going on Can Rose keep it together while also still living her dream as a designer? The practical make up effects are impressive and they do look very grisly Vandervoort does a good job playing the lead being confident but also fighting to control her animal instincts There's even a strange implementation of perfecting the human species with immortality but also evolving into the next apex predator Is the next step in our human evolution not being human anymore but more unstoppable? This definitely brought me back to the movie Contracted which was way more stomach turning to sit through True those whom are easily squeamish may want to stay away from this one too But for gore hounds and David Cronenberg fans this is a worthy remake to follow up on A lovely leading lady, gross effects, and an example of a fearful new strain of disease make for a good watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Hugo S A woman transmutes into a bloodthirsty zombie after an experimental surgery to repair the facial damage caused by an accident. Strangely, her body transformation triggers a radical positive change in the way she is perceived by those around her. Her metamorphosis keeps evolving in a grotesque way at the same time she leaves behind a trail of contagious diseases. "Rabid" tackles one of the biggest demons in today's society: the obsession with beauty standards. The movie drains blood enough to make the audience feel what it takes to go from nobody to somebody. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Ian M Where do you even start with this film, it was long and seemed even longer than it really was. It was badly written and full of cinematic choices that were akin to dragging nails down a chalkboard. There was no natural development. Everything felt force feed down your throat like the obvious blood Rose had to drink. It honestly got to the point I was just waiting for the film to end as I had invested to much time into it before I realised it was irredeemable. The only positive for the entire thing, other than it finally ending, was that the acting was better than it had any right to be. In particular Laura Vandervoort, she did so well not to make Rose seem completely unlikeable and that was very much down to Laura not the script. In fact the only reason I am giving this movie 1 star is because Laura did a great job. But a special shout out must go to Phil Brooks for showing that, like fighting, there is something else he isn't good at. Overall all I can say is I would advise you don't watch unless you are interested in wasting an hour and 40 mins of your life or you are a glutton for punishment Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Genuinely thought was a good movie, acting was good and loved the gore Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Shayla S Not bad but not good. The acting is decent but the film loses its way. Definitely could've been and should've been better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Chandler Levack Globe and Mail Rabid with a female lens isn't camp, it isn't satire. The Soska Sisters's take on Cronenberg's cannibalistic horror film is full of empty calories. Rated: 2/4 Feb 4, 2020 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com It's possible this remake could grow on me when I take the time to watch it again. Here's hoping that ends up being the case. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 15, 2019 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com [The Soskas] have a wickedly funny sense of humor, and a few winningly nasty ideas. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 13, 2019 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse The Soska Sisters retain the bones of the story but shift their focus to Rose's inner life as she transmutes into a form she doesn't understand. Rated: 3/5 Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Keri O'Shea Warped Perspective In effect, Rabid feels like the film which the Soskas shoulda-woulda-coulda made right after American Mary. Rated: 3/5 Jul 16, 2020 Full Review Alex Hudson Exclaim! The film eventually turns into a zombie-style gore fest, but it's the subtle first half that's actually more gripping.
