When her grandmother dies, teenager Rain (Renel Brown) travels from her tiny island hometown to Nassau, to search for the mother she has never known, Glory (Nicki Micheaux). When she finds Glory, she's crestfallen to discover that her mother is an occasional prostitute, and she does her best to reform her. Rain also realizes at school that she has a natural ability as a runner, and, with the help of her coach (CCH Pounder), she trains aggressively in the hope of winning a scholarship.
