Ralph Breaks the Internet would've been a fun but soulless movie if not for its nuanced and necessary story about friendship. Go to Full Review

Movies don't get more timely than Ralph Breaks the Internet - an exhilarating yet dismaying sequel to 2012's Wreck It Ralph, for my money easily the smartest and most endearing Disney animated feature of recent years. Go to Full Review

Conceptually, it's rather ingenious, with well-aimed barbs at abusive commenter culture and social-media narcissism that adds up to a welcome moral for small fry... Go to Full Review

It certainly doesn’t rank among the higher standards of modern animations like Inside Out or Coraline. But it’s vibrant and funny, and it has charm to spare. Go to Full Review

The film picks up with the same lovable characters, bringing them into a bigger, wilder world—the internet—and allowing Disney Animation to expand the universe in bold and clever ways. The magic of the first film is still present, just softened slightly by a sequel that takes bigger swings, not all of which land, but most of which still entertain. One of the film’s greatest strengths is its handling of the original cast. Ralph and Vanellope’s chemistry continues to anchor the story with humor and warmth, and the returning voice actors once again give these characters emotional depth. There’s an undeniable charm in seeing their friendship evolve, even when the narrative leans into the growing pains that come from two best friends wanting different things out of life. The internet setting allows the filmmakers to play with countless creative ideas, but the standout element—the moment fans still talk about—is unquestionably the massive Disney Princess sequence. For the first time in Disney animation history, every major princess appears together in a single film, and it is both surreal and delightfully self-aware. Their involvement injects a fresh, unexpected burst of comedy and nostalgia that elevates the entire second act. The central storyline, however, revolves around Ralph’s fear of losing Vanellope, which leads him down a path that causes chaos across the digital world. While the emotional intention behind this arc is strong, the execution lands only halfway, leaving the climax feeling slightly less impactful than the original film’s resolution. The "best friend insecurity" angle is sweet, but it also becomes a bit repetitive and borders on frustrating in certain scenes. Despite those bumps, the film remains fun, heartfelt, and filled with the kind of world-building that Disney excels at. The animation is vibrant, the humor is playful, and the message about friendships evolving over time is meaningful and relatable for viewers of all ages. Even when the movie relies on rapid-fire internet jokes or brief detours that don’t fully connect, the overall experience still feels warm and worthwhile. Ralph Breaks the Internet may fall just half a step behind its predecessor, but it succeeds in bringing new creativity and emotion to a beloved world. It offers family-friendly entertainment, plenty of visual spectacle, and a sincere story about change and self-discovery. It’s a sequel that knows what made the first film special, and though it can be a bit uneven, it still delivers a fun and memorable adventure. See more Read all reviews
