Wenlei Ma News.com.au Ralph Breaks the Internet would've been a fun but soulless movie if not for its nuanced and necessary story about friendship. Rated: 4/5 Dec 26, 2018 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) Movies don't get more timely than Ralph Breaks the Internet - an exhilarating yet dismaying sequel to 2012's Wreck It Ralph, for my money easily the smartest and most endearing Disney animated feature of recent years. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 21, 2018 Full Review Guy Lodge London Evening Standard Conceptually, it's rather ingenious, with well-aimed barbs at abusive commenter culture and social-media narcissism that adds up to a welcome moral for small fry... Rated: 3/5 Dec 2, 2018 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) It certainly doesn’t rank among the higher standards of modern animations like Inside Out or Coraline. But it’s vibrant and funny, and it has charm to spare. Rated: 3/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn Despite some minor flaws with logic, Ralph Breaks the Internet is a great addition to Disney's modern filmography and is another winner for the series Nov 22, 2023 Full Review Kate Boyle InSession Film The animation techniques continue to amaze me. Obi-wan K Worse then the 1st but alright movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Anne P I liked it. Deffinitely recommend for a family movie night. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Meredith B A good message buried underneath a mountain of crap… (read on if you want to see the in-depth, the previous sentence sums it up pretty well) it hurts my soul that the main characters we loved in the last movie are murdered and replaced with blatant copies that are a whole lot more babyish. Ralph is an obsessive, needy, clingy, weirdo. Vanellope is basically heartless, and her actions are not justifiable. This movie is NOT funny. It will NEVER be funny. ESPECIALLY when in comparison to the first one. I can’t believe I liked Ralph Breaks our Souls when it first came out. Why are the two main characters (especially Ralph) straight-up idiots!? I wish I knew. Anyway, there were a few good things about Ralph Breaks my Hope in Disney, such as the environments and art style being neat, and the idea that the internet is a tangible place is fun. The message, as I mentioned earlier, is actually good, but it didn’t feel like something either character needed to learn. If they’ve been the best of friends for six years, they must know everything about each other. Wrong! The movie decides to make Ralph learn this instead in an embarrassing way and portray Vanellope as this amazing, awesome character who doesn’t need to learn anything or develop at all because she’s just too perfect for that. I didn’t mind the side characters, I thought the “Get Rich Playing Video Games” guy was fun. They were mostly forgettable. The “emotional” part where Ralph reads the comments made me feel a similar way as the “emotional” scene in Cars 2. There was no purpose! The MOMENT after the “emotional” scene, head algorithm girl says that he made his goal, and can get the steering wheel now. Can I mention how absolutely absurd it is that Ralph gets on the news and makes 30k by making bad videos- (except the Bob Ross one, that was awesome) overnight!?! Why wouldn’t they just present Ralph’s problem as burnout! It would make a lot more sense! Alright this is just me ranting at this point, so in conclusion: this movie’s existence makes me mad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review luciano c Esta porquería es un trozo de excremento que se cagó todo lo que enseñó la primera película Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Jay W "Ralphs Breaks the Internet" has a lot of great scenes and fantastic ideas. Combine those concepts with the likable characters established in the 2012 original, what could possibly go wrong? Well, simply put, the characters we came to know and love in the first film don't show up in this sequel. The world of the internet that they show in this film is not all that visually interesting. It bears way too many similarities to "the Emoji Movie", and that is not a sentence you ever want to hear. With the squeaky clean Disney shine, the internet jokes that can be made are not all that funny. And on top of that, a lot of the world building in this film doesn't make sense. A lot of that can be forgiven, but some plot relevant questions inevitably come up. There is no way that Ralph could make $3,000 from being a YouTuber in just one day. Penelope's character comes across as shallow for so quickly getting sick of her "Sugar Rush", after trying all of the first movie to be a player in the game, she just gets bored. It is hard to build sympathy for a character whose main motivation for change is just boredom. Then she quickly flip flops loyalty. Although her character change may seem abrupt, she's got nothing on the character assassination they did to Ralph. They reworked him to be super insecure in this one. Basically making him the primary antagonist of the story. He makes one decision in the movie that is beyond a simple mistake, it was a leap too far to be believable for me. In the first film, yes, he smashes Penelope's car, but there was a clear understanding of why he thought it was the right thing. In this one, his actions feel contrived and unjustified. The main internal struggle of the film feels like something that could have been cleared up in a simple 30-second conversation between two characters. The way it gets blown out of proportion is ridiculous. It is a sad but true state of affair when they can say that the best part of the movie is the part where to you reference other Disney movies. And yes, those scenes are quite funny. But there is so much joke potential there that they could not capitalize on, because after all, it is Disney, making fun of Disney, there is only so far they will take it. A disappointing sequel with a handful of good jokes that could watch as a YouTube compilation. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Verril Manuel A Okay Sequel After the first film!!
