Interesting doco about a 67 year old man who has spent his life making ramen. His small shop has two hour plus queues daily, his ramen is that good. I felt sad for this man more than anything. He lost his wife to cancer at 52 and there is a real sadness behind his smile. With his own health starting to fail it seemed he may not have much left if he could not continue to make ramen, as the punishing routine really was his life. It was moving the impact this dedicated man had on his trainees and the customers who came to eat his ramen daily. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite the rather jarring and amateurish quality of the camera-work, this is still a highly absorbing documentary about the twilight of the God of Ramen, as Kazuo Yamagishi is known to his devoted fans who queue daily around the block for his simple but heavenly bowl of ramen. Not just about the eponymous dish, but also about his life, philosophy and the personal tragedy that is the source of his ongoing drive to produce the bowl of ramen at Taishoken.
