Mia K This is the most spectacular movie I have ever laid my eyes on. In all my 72 years of living, I have never seen a film as masterful as this one. I don't hand out 5 stars lightly, but Ratatoing has earned every single one with its daring plot, unforgettable characters, and boundary-pushing animation. From the first frame, you know you're in for something special — a film that doesn't just entertain but dares to challenge the norms of storytelling. At the heart of the film is Marcell Toing, a suave, passionate chef rat who runs the most exclusive restaurant in all of Rio de Janeiro. Yes, you read that right. Not Paris — Rio. That creative decision alone sets Ratatoing apart, grounding it in a fresh and vibrant world rarely explored by rodent-led films. Marcell is not just a chef; he’s an artist, a visionary, a hero risking it all to procure the rarest ingredients to delight his discerning rodent clientele. The plot follows a high-stakes, nocturnal adventure as Marcell and his team — the loyal Carol and the hilariously cautious Greg — sneak into human kitchens to secure secret spices and gourmet elements. It’s Mission: Impossible meets Iron Chef, but with rats. The tension is real, the stakes are high, and the flavour is unforgettable. But what truly elevates Ratatoing is its character development. Marcell's unwavering dedication to excellence is inspirational. Carol’s quiet strength and resourcefulness balance the team dynamic, while Greg’s comic relief never overshadows his underlying courage. They aren’t just animals in a kitchen — they’re a found family, chasing dreams bigger than themselves. And let’s not forget the villains, a group of rival rats whose jealousy fuels a suspenseful culinary rivalry. It’s a tale of passion vs. pettiness, artistry vs. imitation — a theme many creators can relate to. Ratatoing is not just a film. It's an experience. A movement. A rat-shaped reminder that greatness can come from the smallest of places — and that sometimes, to make something truly special, you have to sneak into a human kitchen and steal it. Bravo, Ratatoing. The animation is God-awful but the movie was still hilarious. I still to this day watch this movie with my family. 10/10. The animation... The acting... The plot... Humanity had waited for too long for our second obelisk to bless us, but here it is. The movie bringing humanity to it's rightful place as the one power of the universe. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
