Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald A hip comedy, and as such, being hip and caustic is sometimes more important than being funny. Rated: 2/5 May 30, 2008 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Rats and Cats is an excellent example of independent Australian film and deserves to be seen; with a little more care in the development of the story it might have been outstanding. Rated: 3/5 May 25, 2008 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) Rats and Cats is a sort-of comedy, very laid-back and meandering, and it's mostly content to explore life in this little town and some of its inhabitants. Rated: 3/5 May 15, 2008 Full Review Julie Rigg MovieTime, ABC Radio National Not a lot happens in it really. But it's the way it doesn't happen that counts. May 25, 2008 Full Review Herald Sun (Australia) There are no side-splitting jokes as such, but a high number of humorous observations that are right on the money. Rated: 3/5 May 25, 2008 Full Review Urban Cinefile Critics Urban Cinefile Notable for his short film, Wilfred, which became a popular series for SBS TV, director Tony Rogers' assured handling and the cast's boots'n'all delivery make this unheralded black comedy a pleasant surprise. Audience Member Quirky off-beat Aussie comedy that had its moments, about a former soap star returning to his small country hometown. It generally failed to grab me, though there was some promise there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Was excepting too much perhaps from this dark aussie comedy by the 'Wilfred' team (director, actors, writers all the same). Unfortunately it just seemed to lack the originality of Wilfred serving up a pretty sub par story. It was great to see Wilfred out of costume with Adam & Alexis having a similar relationship to their one on Wilfred. You can also see that the TV show 'Lowdown' came from this movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Quirky off-beat Aussie comedy that had its moments, about a former soap star returning to his small country hometown. It generally failed to grab me, though there was some promise there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't even say it's bad... it's just 1 hour and half of nothingness Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member two guys from the Wedge? well yes, but it's actually quite funny. in my weird way though. so don't see it and whinge "you said it was funny and it's not!" otherwise i'll punch you in the gunt. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Mildly entertaining but lame for the most part. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/08 Full Review Read all reviews
