South African enfant terrible filmmaker and artiste-cineaste Manus Oosthuizen meets with Rotten Tomatoes-approved indie film critic Babette Cruickshank in an Echo Park sound studio. With key members of Manus's crew joining, they record an audio commentary track for his new elegiac feature documentary Razzennest. But the session goes down a different path... cazzart! The ultimate elevation of arthouse horror, just not as you might expect.

Katelyn Nelson Daily Grindhouse ...immersive in an almost inarticulable way with the kind of horror in its climax that has its teeth sunk in before you’ve even realized it’s bitten. It is, also, a novel approach to the forced confrontation with history we occasionally seem to need. Aug 4, 2024 Full Review Kyle Logan ScreenAnarchy Amazing on several levels. ... Brings a horrific audio drama into cinema without losing any of the power of its images or its audio-only narrative, but also succeeds in exploring the themes of the far more self-consciously artful film-within-a-film. Apr 28, 2023 Full Review Stephanie Malone Morbidly Beautiful RAZZENNEST is an utterly original auditory experiment that works as sharp satire, hilarious meta-commentary, and absolute nightmare fuel. It's so singularly odd (in the best way) that it's impossible to capture its magic through a simple review. Rated: 4/5 Feb 8, 2023 Full Review Evan Dossey Midwest Film Journal A clever and scary satire. Jan 10, 2023 Full Review Alejandro Turdó Hoy Sale Cine Razzenest is a clever detour from the formulaic horror tropes. Tension rises slowly but steady in an inventive story that shows us how the worst of people rises up to the surface when things get awry. Rated: 7/10 Dec 3, 2022 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness Having had its premiere at Fantastic Fest 2022 in the Burnt Ends section, "Razzennest" continues to screen elsewhere, pushing indie audiences to go places they’ve never gone in the process. Motte L Razzennest is a real test of your imagination. The challenge here is trying to visualize all that you hear. And that might not be easy for everyone. You are forced to create scary images in your head as well to completement what you believe is being communicated by the story. The entire experience is unique and certainly might not be for everyone. By the time it ends I found myself to have painted mental pictures of all the characters and how I felt they would look and move like. But that could just all be in my head and as a result of my own personal experiences. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review gregg b like a modern day audio play. but also not. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review gunner h Really fine audio horror comedy craziness. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Megan K This was ridiculous. People left behind the golden age of the radio for a reason; a moving picture is much more entertaining. I would say this should have been an audiobook, not a movie, but there's too much happening in a confused mess of yelling and foreign language for even that to work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Stoner J Just terrible. Not a fan of this audio horror. It's interesting but nowhere near a real movie. What's up with the decisions in this to only out subtitles to every 3rd sentence when the possessed are speaking German! And the subtitles that do show up, make no sense whatsoever and you can't follow what's going on, actual video would have helped this out. masking Threshold is at least followable and much more interesting, but again, this audio only movies, nope Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Aldis H The images are quite arresting, but the acting is the worst in the history of history.
