08/02/2020 Love love this movie See more 08/14/2013 I kinda just threw this on the TV, not knowing it was a musical or anything, but wow, why would you make a musical about WWII like this? This movie was bad. Either the accents are so good that I couldn't understand a word, or they were so bad that not even Australians could understand this movie. I'm not sure, but it's just singing and dancing and some kind of love story until the melodramatic ending. I don't recommend this. See more 06/17/2013 Rather dull story about a recovering American World War II soldier who goes AWOL in Sydney after refusing to take no for an answer in attempts to reel in the affections of a married cabaret entertainer. I struggled to feel attached to any of the characters and to stay awake during this. See more 03/06/2013 Pacific WWII US deserter on leave in Australia becomes involved with a local singer with some annoying persistence. Originally a play and transformed into a feature film and soundtrack. Contained too much cabaret and singing for my liking, which was decidedly lacking in a 1940s feel.
