Ellen E Jones Guardian Bausch's book has been praised for its existential profundity on religious matters, but very little of that makes it to the screen. Rated: 2/5 Jan 13, 2021 Full Review Michael Ordoña Los Angeles Times If tension was the filmmakers' aim, they decisively miss - especially if it was meant to come from the puzzlingly casual sniper situation. Any possibility of buying into the story's reality is defused by the soldiers being so dang gabby, and loudly so. Nov 10, 2020 Full Review Mark Meszoros The News-Herald (Willoughby, OH) Like many war movies that have their intended impacts, it is effective in reminding us of the sacrifices made by those who've served their nation. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 14, 2021 Full Review Monique Jones Common Sense Media Violent WWII drama makes existential plea against war. Rated: 3/5 Jan 7, 2021 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth Just when you chuckle over someone's comment, there is an unusual sound to disturb the moment. The audience begins to get the feel of being alone, really alone. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 20, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... offers an intimate examination of the physical and psychological toll of war while struggling to resonate more deeply. James L A movie showing the actual effects on troops. Psychological and thought provoking. Not the meaning of life. Entertaining and makes you think. War is HELL. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/02/25 Full Review Nigel S Wasn't sure what to make of this. It is meant to be based on a true story, but the motivations were suss all around. Why was the guide just happy to leave his possessions and treck aimlessly up a hill (and why didn't the group think this was odd)... ..... and why did they have to walk so far when a simple recon flight could have discovered what they saw in a 10 minute flyover.... Having said that, well shot, if not drawn out, and good moody score. If you like WWII movies could be one to watch if you have time to kill. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Eskimo S Excellent movie and score Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/25 Full Review Danny H Four soldiers walk up a hill. Some get killed. That's it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/22/25 Full Review Breno G Special Effects: 1,0/Sound Effects: 0,5/Acting: 0,5/Story: 0,5 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review philip w A hard hitting film about the effects of war on men — it's realistic and a true story — see it — it makes you think .
