      Critics Consensus

While it's still hard to argue with its impeccable cast or the fun they often seem to be having, Red 2 replaces much of the goofy fun of its predecessor with empty, over-the-top bombast.

Shaun E Like its predecessor, Red 2 does not pretend to be anything other than over the top and absurdly unbelievable. With an overarching storyline that is possibly better than the first instalment, the cast go on a rather convoluted adventure to dismantle an atomic bomb. With characters changing sides left right and centre, you have no idea whether you are coming or going. Every escape from certain death is utterly implausible and some of the action scenes are so comic strip as to be bizarre. Yet, despite this, the film is lightweight compulsive watching. There is never enough tension for anything to be edge of the seat, but it is just fun with a lot of laughs along the way. Enjoyable, but not for anyone who wants to overthink it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Dan C This movie, like Red, is a spoof on secret agent thrillers. It is absolutely hilarious, smart, quick, a joy to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Giorgio G Not as good, and surely not as inventive as the first edition, it is still quite enjoyable. Same as the first one, I got lost in some of the plot but too entertained to care. Much better than the first IMO, as well as one of the best actions movies in recent years! Kimber Myers The Playlist While we applaud the minds behind Red 2 for making a film for adults in a sea of movies for kids and teenage boys, they didn't actually make a good film for adults.
