João Victor M Brett Ratner's direction does not disappoint. Red Dragon tells part of Hannibal Lecter's (Anthony Hopkins) story before the events of The Silence of the Lambs. Here, we see a similar case in which Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) assists Will Graham (Edward Norton) in capturing a killer, Francis Dolarhyde (Ralph Fiennes), better known as the "Tooth Fairy." I really enjoyed the film and how the conversations between Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) and Will Graham (Edward Norton) developed. I found it particularly interesting that Will Graham (Edward Norton) was the one who put Hannibal (Anthony Hopkins) behind bars, adding extra weight to their dynamic. From the middle to the end, the film becomes even more intense, giving great prominence to Ralph Fiennes' performance as Francis Dolarhyde. I expected an ending similar to Criminal Minds or CSI, but I was completely surprised. The way the investigation uncovers how the killer had access to details about the victims' homes reminded me of CSI, but here, it was executed in a much more sophisticated way, avoiding predictability. Another highlight was Mary-Louise Parker's performance as Molly Graham, the wife of Will Graham (Edward Norton). In her final act to save her family, she delivers an intense and convincing performance. Speaking of outstanding female performances, Emily Watson as Reba McClane deserves a lot of praise. Even without direct eye contact, her portrayal perfectly conveys the emotions of the character, making her one of the most memorable figures in the story "Our scars remind us that the past was real." Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/25 Full Review Luis R Very enjoyable movie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Ventsislav Y Too slow at times, but still not a bad movie to watch Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Niccolo N Right from the opening scene it becomes sevident that Brett Ratner is no Michael Mann and has some serious problems in building tension... The leads are good but the pace of the film is dull. Director of photgraphy Dante Spinotti, who shot "Manhunter" with Michael Mann, is a welcome return...but this is not enough to turn this into a good picture. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/30/24 Full Review Larry K Insane ending. What a fantastic movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews
