Emma Myers indieWire Genuinely moving but never maudlin, Remote Area Medical lays bare the injustice of a system that fails to provide for those who need it most. Rated: B Aug 16, 2016 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The filmmakers inspire deep admiration for the volunteers, but without reducing the patients to mere victims of our broken welfare system. Jan 12, 2015 Full Review Richard Brody The New Yorker This deeply compassionate, quietly furious documentary ... highlights, in dramatic detail, the woeful lack of medical care available to residents of one Appalachian community-and, by extension, to many Americans. Dec 8, 2014 Full Review Cory Woodroof Lumination Network The documentary accomplishes an admirable task by highlighting an issue and showing how some are trying to fix it. Feb 11, 2022 Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy In this eye-opening film, we get an intimate look at a Tennessee clinic's operation for three days and experience first hand the hardships that many Americans encounter to receive basic medical care. Nov 8, 2018 Full Review Robert Roten Laramie Movie Scope This movie provides a snapshot of what health care in America was like for some people before many provisions of Obamacare took effect, and it is a depressing snapshot. Tim G Mind-boggling that this needs to exist in the richest country in the world. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/15 Full Review Audience Member I actually was just lucky enough to have this group come through my town, these people are just as nice and helpful in person as they appear on this documentary. Amazing people. I actually watched the doc before I went down to seek help from them to see what they were about. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member As someone who has spent majority of my life without healthcare - I appreciate the film & it's subjects! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member While, it was cool that I was able to meet the director of the film and the message that it got across was crucial for American's to see, Remote Area Medical is lacking. It's poorly shot and aesthetically a nightmare. There's not quite enough movement in the plot to make it worth watching again. Just a mediocre documentary. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A really depressing look at a weekend of work for the people who organize Remote Area Medical as they spend the weekend treating thousands of individuals in Bristol, Tennessee's from the city's NASCAR speedway. Shines a light on the state of the medical system in the US. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
