Richard Yu Cinema Escapist Unlike many other films that explore loneliness as part of modern life, Rent-A-Cat is particularly uplifting with its simple message - that "nothing is better than a cat for when you're feeling lonely." Audience Member A young, lonely lady rents out her cats. They are ment for other lonely people and she drags the cats around in a small wagon. To make sure the people are safe for her cats she visits them at home, but never take much of a price and the contracts are easily agreed. This is a plot I totally fell for. The risk was the comedy - foreign comedies often fail to entertain me, and so did this one. I did not hate it. Not one bit. It starts of pretty poor but it get's better during the last half. No big surprizes but some rather good scenes and the human touch is greater and it's not a total freak show. It's quirky all right, but also pretty sad. In other words - more than just a crazy cat lady movie. It's OK on most levels, and I find this film really hard to rate. It can't get a great rating since it's too flat and it gave me few laughs and fewer powerful moments. It's not a total flop as it's creative and interesting, with some solid dialogue that may give you smiles. 4.5 out of 10 donuts. It will be awesome if we have something like this to offer pets to those who feel voids in his or her life. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is so simple and delicious. Cats can fill the hole in your heart! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member There's a pattern to the story that's cute and endearing. I can't say the same for the whole movie though.
