Audience Member Painfully bad. I don’t understand what people see in this movie. It is not good. I am a cinephile and there was little good to say about this film to be completely honest. It had a decent premise but execution was poor. Poor script, poor acting, low production value, boring direction. The ending was the only interesting part of the movie but was still very unsatisfying. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Georgan G 3 & 1/4 stars. The name of this film, Resolution, may not be something you achieve with this film. I resolve to let go of previous ideas re genre & what is horror. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/11/23 Full Review Heather L A really great start to something that I feel got out of hand quickly as an already flimsy extended universe. Regardless of what came after, this is a great sci-fi horror. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review Brian P This movie really sneaks up on you, and catches you off guard. I knew a little of what I was getting into ahead of time, seeing a few of Benson in Moorehead's other movies, but I was still a little confused until the story started taking some turns. A great movie for their first attempt, and I love that other movie since tie into an ever expanding universe. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/11/23 Full Review dave d The filmmaking duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Scott Moorhead are trapped in Resolution in the first collaboration and it is as mind bending as you'd expect if you know these two! I needed this explained to me, so it is a bit ambiguous, but once you understand it, you may want to rewatch it. I love these Benson-Moorhead films and to see them at the beginning it a treat. Final Score: 6.7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Jeremy S Watch the Endless first. Then watch this. You'll have to trust me on this. Anton Bitel Little White Lies a Pirandello-esque sort of paradoxical meta-horror whose folk are unwitting players in a film (or several), desperate to find a way safely to exit the stage and escape the gaze of an unseen, and obviously viewer-like, observer. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times A strangely tense and humorous meta-narrative about two friends experiencing weird goings-on at a remote cabin. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 24, 2013 Full Review Ian Buckwalter NPR A smart and chilling indie horror from co-directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead ... Rated: 9/10 Jan 24, 2013 Full Review Karl Delossantos Smash Cut Reviews Resolution is a creepy, atmospheric, and wholly satisfying meta-horror that served as a perfect introduction to Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson's specific brand of high concept, lo-fi science fiction. Rated: 4/5 Nov 18, 2020 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the movie benefits from the strong work of its stars and an episodic (and somewhat hit-and-miss) midsection... Rated: 2/4 Nov 3, 2020 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie Though Resolution has some significant flaws, it's important that films like it get made and that filmmakers like Moorehead and Benson continue to aim high and take chances.
