Critics Consensus

Results moves stubbornly at its own deliberate pace, but the well-chosen cast -- and writer-director Andrew Bujalski's insightful observations -- offer rich rewards for patient viewers.

Alexandra Heller-Nicholas The Blue Lenses Results is low-key and dialogue heavy, and while mumblecore romcoms may not be for everyone, there is a sweetness ... when it enters into the volatile, liminal headspace of the newly single, marked by an almost crystalline, unbearable awkwardness. Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Will Leitch The New Republic A completely weird, off-kilter, bizarro-land version of a romantic comedy, writer/director Andrew Bujalski finally cracks the Broadcast News code moony filmmakers have been trying to break for three decades. Rated: A- Dec 31, 2015 Full Review Ryan Gilbey New Statesman Bujalski might never crack Hollywood, but what does it matter? He's defiantly his own man. Results gets results. Oct 8, 2015 Full Review Michael J. Casey Michael J. Cinema The stuff of good, classic drama, and in the hands of Bujalski, it all comes off brilliantly. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 14, 2021 Full Review Niall Browne Movies in Focus Writer-director Andrew Bujalski's Results is an energetic black comedy peppered with a vibrancy that can only be created outside the studio system. NASHVILLE I Results is a terrific movie, but you need to be in the right place for it. With a vignette structure, there's a heavy emphasis on the journey's of 3 characters, though there is minor arc. If you're in a place for growth or recovery from loss, you'll very much like Results. Otherwise if you want something more gripping, this may not be for you. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review David F Kind of a weird indie film about some gym rats and an eccentric rich dude, but really entertaining and insightful nevertheless. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Audience Member A very messy film. Results is a very forgettable film with bad acting throughout. The story also doesn't do the actors/actresses any favors here as it is a very weak script. This film feels as if it was put together by amateurs in the business. There are no moments here where the audience will go that was a great scene. Instead the audience will be looking at the clock or their watch asking the question on when this madness will finally end. I really was hoping Guy Pearce would be able to elevate the material but sadly he was not enough to save the film from turmoil. Results gets a very low rating with 1 star out of 5. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Autumn K I got 44 minutes into this movie, googled the synopsis and decided to stop paying attention to it. I tried to convince my husband to change movies but he wanted to see it through. I dutifully sat with him until the ending when I watched him go through the 5 stages of grief. When the credits rolled he explained "really?!, that can't be it" but that was in fact it. If you watch TV static for and hour and a half it would have the same entertainment value Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Alec B A delightfully offbeat romantic comedy. Finally a love story where characters with "difficult" personalities aren't forcibly sold as charming and who don't suddenly change who they are out of convenience for the story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Jeffrey P These types of movies dealing with 'real people doing real things' are usually lukewarm for my taste and this was no different but it really fall apart in the second half and I lost all interest.
