Audience Member Bit slow good acting but Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure how much of this is true, it is said to be the true story of a soldier who was thought to have died in the Falklands War but reappeared suffering from amnesia after the war had ended and his memorial service was held. His return to his family and the Army are followed, and his changed relationship with both are explored. The film is let down by some poor acting, very little of it seemed convincing which was a pity as sit should have asked interesting questions about young men fighting in wars, and fear. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Typical war drama which seems very dated now that there have been many carbon copies. The "Regimental Bath" was very well filmed, but without the sting in neither the direction nor the script, this was nothing more than half decent. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Sadly, this now looks a bit dated, as it covers ground that has been done better. Nevertheless, as paul Greengrass' first film it holds some interest, as it's nicely put together and there are some good performances from the supporting cast. Best of all is the central performance from a very thin and wiry David Thewlis, looking like he stepped out of Mike Leigh's 'Naked' and into his army uniform. He's unsettling and alienated, hard to like because his story doesn't make sense, it's too complicated to accept compared to the 'easier' version that he had been killed. He drifts through the film like a ghost, resurrected but quite possibly better off dead. His friends can't understand what happened to him, nor how he has been traumatised. His regiment can't accept him back, his presence seems to undermine morale. And so the homecoming hero is abandoned. (it's not a comedy) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member wow umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch....its got a good cast of actors/actressess thorughout this movie.....i think that tom bell, rita tushingham, david thewlis, rudi davies, michael pollitt play good roles/parts thorughout this movie....i think that the director of this action/drama movie had done a great job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throguhout this movie its a really powerful drama movie 2 watch its a great movie with a great cast thorughout this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Introverted story of a solidier outcast and the failing society around him. It's a low-key affair throughout, but one that enhances the style of the film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
