Audience Member Love Timothy Spall, but this script falls short in any category. It shows such a terrible arguing bunch that it ends up being anti semitic. There is a greedy man, a fanatic rabbi, a guru, and a liberal grant seeker for Black Africans. They fight over everything. It is not funny at all. The grandson is suffering from neglect. The grandmother dies after witnessning their selfish fights. The beautiful house where they grew up has gone to rack and ruin. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This really wasn't bad... a little contrived by not bad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice to see Honor Blackman in a large role but this was a bit drab. Spall as usual was great but his kids were all either too odd or quite franly nasty and self centred. Its was a slow start but finally got somewhere half way through Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a quirky and unrealistic collection of characters in a feuding Jewish family, if you can get over that the story of their long-suffering father bringing them together is watchable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member "A movie full of odd-ball characters who happen to be apart of a dysfunctional family. My favorite kind of families. But this one wasn't as out there or nearly as dramatic for my taste. I like these types of films to be more darker. But it was OK. Entertaining. I thought most of the acting was good. Some a little bit over the top. But the interesting part was how different Lenny's children turned out. One a budah, another a Rabbi, one a complete ass, and the other off changing the world. It was an odd mixture, but an interesting one none the less. Not something I would watch again, but nothing I regret seeing either." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I would give it an excellent rating. It was very relateable to me. The acting was totally convincing! Kerry Lengel Arizona Republic "Reuniting the Rubins" may walk like a comedy and quack like a comedy, but despite the absurd extremes to which it takes the squabbling-family formula, it inspires nary a chuckle. Rated: 2/5 Apr 5, 2012 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Theoretical laughter, tears and maudlin contrivance ensue. Mar 23, 2012 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times A frantic, badly constructed, slightly offensive muddle that doesn't so much end as run out of things on a checklist. Mar 22, 2012 Full Review Simon Gallagher What Culture Reuniting the Rubins is harmless, unspectacular comedy, let down by a poor script and light-weight direction, which might have been more at home on a Sunday on ITV. It isn't the worst thing you'll see this year, but it will be difficult to remember.
