Allan B The worst studio movie ever made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review andrew s Loved it growing up...still do👍😀👌 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Natasha P Classic. Would love to find the dvd Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/22 Full Review Audience Member I get that most Stallone fans are loyal to his muscled action blockbusters like Rocky and Rambo. But every actor has done something beyond their spectrum (Robin Williams, One Hour Photo. Jim Carrey, Batman) Stallone is not a funny man by any means. But he does hold his own in this wacky comedy. He and Dolly Parton have interesting chemistry together. And he doesn't have a have bad country voice, despite being required for this role. However, the film has enough gags and jokes, with Stallone's own blend of streetwise 'Nick' humor, to make it interesting enough. I know we laughed our butts off during the embarrassment of 'Drinkin Stein', and a few other places. Bottom line: it IS a must-see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure why I watched this film, but I did. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's pretty bad. Stallone being turned into a Country Music Star...It's as bad it sounds. The only thing that saves it is the great Dolly Parton and her amazing voice. The premise is very simple and silly. But hey it's from 1984 and the 80's generated some pretty silly movies. Variety Staff Variety Effortlessly living up to its title, Rhinestone is as artificial and synthetic a concoction as has ever made its way to the screen. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The center part of the film -- the country "training" sessions -- could have been fun if they'd been written with a satiric edge. Unfortunately, they seem to have been written with a blunt instrument. Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Janet Maslin New York Times As Mr. Stallone wends his way through barnyards and country cabins, the material retains some comic potential. But as the inevitable romance springs up between the two stars, their lack of rapport becomes all too noticeable. May 20, 2003 Full Review Jim Schembri jimschembri.com Yes, the 1984 country music Dolly Parton comedy was a critically derided box-office bomb but, dangnamit, it’s a hoot and a half. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2022 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...a vanity project for two big stars who hadn't figured out what audiences wanted to see them do, this is an egocentric disaster... Rated: 1/5 Aug 11, 2021 Full Review People Magazine This is a charming movie, spunky and full of surprising fun. May 5, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews
