With its charmingly childlike perspective, Riddle of Fire channels the spirit of youthful adventure with enough exuberance to overcome an occasionally shaggy structure.

Wendy Ide Observer (UK) This is the work of a film-maker whose skill doesn’t yet match his bold vision. But with more experience, we could see great things from American writer/director Weston Razooli. Rated: 2/5 Jun 10, 2024 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian While the core conceit is sort of cute, Razooli really can’t direct actors who aren’t already seasoned with prior experience. Rated: 2/5 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire It’s a light and singular concoction of sick-ass vibes in dire need of something -- anything -- to weigh them down. I couldn’t wait for it to end, but that’s partially because I’m already so impatient to see what Razooli does next. Rated: C+ Mar 26, 2024 Full Review William Stottor FILMHOUNDS Magazine Whilst Riddle of Fire struggles to justify its near two hour runtime, Razooli's film is as joyful, endearing, and heartfelt as any other release this year. Rated: 3/5 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey Overstreet Looking Closer I haven’t had more fun at the movies in 2024. ... If you are old enough to remember using shoulder-mount video cameras or primitive handicams to make shaky fake action movies with your friends, you’ll probably love this. Rated: B+ Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Andrew Murray The Upcoming A lot of ideas have been thrown together in creating Riddle of Fire and, while some work better than others, the result is an underwhelming fairytale outing. Liam H Really unique and interesting. It really captures an 80's style of film making which is exactly what the doctor ordered in this day age. It offers a trip into nostalgia that is heart warming, feels good and still has some of its own uniqueness. It's not perfect but it deserves a lot of credit. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Hailey A Absolutely delightful!! It has this wonderful charm to it, as though the children staring in the movie had also directed and produced it, and it turned out as perfectly as they could have dreamed. The line delivery is wonky, and the plot choices are strange and follow kid-logic, and that’s the magic of it. Both Ethan and i were reminded of the movies we’d made as kids. Oh to be little with a dirt bike and a paint gun and a mother who’s not worried about where you are! There’s an interesting thread where the magic bubble of kid fantasy smacks against the real danger of the adult world. I love how the one little boy has subtitles. I love all the 70s cult movie send ups, and the way that they wove in 70s medieval revival with the typography and music. Genuinely wept so hard at the end as they jump on the trampoline, wanting to have children so badly and praying that money and housing and climate won’t stop that from being possible. I just want to have kids and give them access to everything they need to spend their summers making kid movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Julien S Ridle of fire has a Quentin Dupieux-like original scenario, blessed with some sparkling young actors perfomance and beautiful scenery. Un je-ne-sais-quoi that will bring you back to childhood. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Gary Y One of the best movie I have seen for many years! A truly amazing movie that will make you laugh, dream and reconnect with your childhood. A must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Louise D HUGE BREATH OF FRESH AIR! I felt thrown back into my childhood and laughed my way through the film. Must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Chris W Amazing movie that has to be seen. Great casting, visually interesting, and compelling story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
