James C A profound revenge drama. Set in more modern times than classical "Ulysses," drama; excellent characterization and motivation on display, portraying reprisals in 1864 east Texas. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Audience Member Good western Chuck Connors at his best recommend it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, August 8, 2023 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Audience Member What do you get when you mash up a good old western with a soap opera? You get a Ride Beyond Vengeance! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The review given "This brutal, adult-oriented western offers the tale of a drifter who settles down to marry a woman he doesn't love so he can get at her inheritance. When that is exposed, the drifter flees. When he rides back into town years later, he gets a brutal reception." Is about completely backwards. Did you even watch the movie? Not the greatest movie, but: it is more like "Young man from the wrong side of the tracks marries town rich girl. He cannot stand living off his wife's aunt's money, so he leaves town to seek his fortune. Wife won't go with him. When he returns with his fortune 11 years later, he runs into much trouble. Many stars make up a well played movie" Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Clumsy direction and uneven pacing hamper this film, not to mention some uneven performances. Connors was better as Lucas McCain than he is here. And Claude Akins is a bit too over the top. Bill Bixby is the most interesting character, playing a heavy. Gary Merrill is wasted in his small part. Over all, it may be worth watching just to see all the cameos and bit parts. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member For starters, the thumbnail synopsis of the film as posted 9/22/2018 is completely wrong; Connors' character Jonas is not a fortune-hunter, and goes through Hell for a woman who doesn't deserve him. The western doesn't entirely work, but Bill Bixby and Claude Akins provide two of the most twisted baddies ever... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
