As Michelle Payne, [Teresa] Palmer does a credible job with her performance, which solidly carries the whole movie ... Ride Like a Girl is absolutely an inspiring film, but compared to 1944's National Velvet, it just won't be considered a classic.

A beautifully crafted movie, of an Australian female jockey, that had to prove she was as good as a male. Loved every second of this very inspiring story that was actual history.

Regardless of what you may think of the sport of horse racing, this is an inspirational story, even more so because it is the true tale of Michelle Payne becoming the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. Yet even with knowing its basics, it is still quite emotionally affecting at times, thanks to some great performances from a who's who of Australian film.

it holds a strong message about sexism and perseverance but i was just bored watching it because horse racing does not interest me.
