Rohan Naahar The Indian Express Rifle Club is a bold display of originality. Like Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire and the Kevin Smith’s Red State — two recent movies that feature Heat-level gunfights — Rifle Club invites a deeper analysis of its themes precisely because of how lean it is. Dennis Sharon It’s loud and entertaining, but the screenplay lacks engagement. The only reason I stepped into the theater was Syam Pushkaran’s name, but this didn’t live up to his usual standards. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Rahul N The movie is intriguing The performance of the cast is very strong The pace may be slow but cinematography and the attitude of the characters defines the movie For an Indian movie genre in action and drama, this movie is definitely a thematic version Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review arvind s Amal Neerad's latest... Sorry, Aashiq Abu's latest is an ensemble extravaganza scripted by Syam Pushkaran that is set against the backdrop of the forests of Wayanad in the early 90s. When the members of an age old Rifle Club accept a temporary member, little do they know the baggage that he comes with. This unwanted baggage brings a dreaded Mangalorean gang to the forests of Wayanad.  The casting of this movie is perfect. Each character is quirkier than the last and all of them have a reasonable amount of screentime with no one getting the short end of the stick. And there are so many known faces including rapper, Hanumankind, who makes his feature film debut as the son of Anurag Kashyap 2.0's character, Vani Viswanath, director Senna Hegde and many more. The movie also gives it's female characters credible presence with each one trying outdo the other in terms of targets shot.  Rifle Club has a serious premise of a gangster hunting the members of a rifle club but it is still a fun watch especially with all banter & witty dialogues the club members have between themselves.  Rifle Club is technically brilliant (giving out an Amal Neerad vibe) accompanied by a thumping score by Rex Vijayan. What Rifle Club truly lacks is an engaging story. There are no twists. It is a simple story that is pretty predictable from the get go. But Aashiq Abu & team make up for that with the technical brilliance and a stacked cast of actors. If you are looking for a less violent action film this week, then go for Rifle Club.
