What to Know

Critics Consensus

Ring Two serves up horror cliches, and not even Hideo Nakata, the director of the movies from which this one is based, can save the movie from a dull screenplay full of absurdities.

And while it all looks and sounds amazing (Gabriel Beristain's chilly cinematography and Hans Zimmer's eerie score are standouts) none of that really matters much if as a viewer all I'm doing is sitting there biding my time waiting for the end credits. Go to Full Review

While I found the original to be smart and a lot of fun, The Ring Two is just stupid and silly. Go to Full Review

Blu B Jul 16 Well compared to Rings it's good I guess lol. In all honesty it's very inconsistent, has plot holes, and just doesn't have much going for it. Editng and pacing aren't good here and everything else is ok at best. Sissy is good in her small role here but that's about it. At first it jumps around with random weird things happening including the bizarre CGI deer that I guess are supposed to be creepy but just comes off as random. Than it starts jumping around between the kid and Watts before staring to find some kind of rhythm for a bit before the ending which is alright I guess if you don't think about it too much. But the more you do the more the whole thing just doesn't make much sense in general and makes Samara into a idiot. Why does she want her son above all others? Why is she back to begin with? The tape was seen in the same neighborhood as where she lives? I don't know if that's a bad plot convience or if she's really dumb. The direction isn't bad though here and it does look asetically very simliar to the first but just doesn't really have the same mystery elements the first does. Mainly because the story just feels like an excuse for a sequel that's unneeded rather than adding anything. If they were gonna do this, it should've been a prequel of Samara solely. It really isn't scary at all but it is sort of creepy at times but it's simliar ground we've already seen. Skip This. Not the worst horror sequel ever made by a longshot but nothing to really go out of your way to see. See more Faiz D May 13 I saw Ring 1 & 2 together. Therefore I enjoyed it even more. See more Adam B Mar 28 There really is almost nothing to say about this movie other then the child is the most annoying, terribly acted, and abysmal characters from the first movie. So naturally, they decided that he should be the main character in the second one. Lucky us to spend so much time with him. Still, directing is competent. See more thiago s @Thiagostone Feb 18 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, o filme não tem um terror bom, as cenas são fracas, os personagens agora são fracos, e a história é desinteressante, com tudo isso, eu não recomendo esse filme. See more James B @James_B Jan 11 As someone who as watched the short rings I do understand the first part but it doesn't add anything to the plot with doesn't make sense either but it is still entertaining. See more Deontae D 12/03/2024 The ring two is pretty good, I remember I had it on dvd, I had gave it a 5 star rating years ago on Google play movies & tv, The sequel is just like the first remake, But the first is still better.
