Josh A Ah, Ring 2. I like the different approach they took to this one with the more supernatural lens and how this feels like a proper successor to the 1998 movie. While it's a shame that in order to get this movie we basically had to sacrifice an adaptation of Loop (which I hope happens at some point, it sounds crazy), this is still a really good movie. It's not Shakespeare, don't get me wrong, it's far from that. But it's entertaining and a solid follow up to Ring. While I might not rewatch this one as often as I will rewatch Ring, I'll always remember it as Ring's pretty good successor. Definitely better than Spiral, that's for sure. Next up, Ring 0: Birthday! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Danilo M Way too boring. Seems like it lasts forever. You should be scared in a horror movie and that's not the case. The deformed faces are just people with mouths wide open (... looks like someone in a dentist chair... It's ridiculous). It's more likely to laugh than to scream watching this nonsense. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review S. C The tone and atmosphere is being reimported from the original into this second try of a sequel which helps keeping the canon feel. There is some expansion to the lore of the ghost, some smart camera work and cool scares. Music's nice too. Although that's what I can give most of the credit for. A few, rather not small, writing choices and their executions are very questionable and get frustrating. I also found a little bit of editing and a couple of performances to come off as amateurish and silly, almost out of place. At the end Kanae's spirit decides to haunt Okazaki as a finishing horror gag, I suppose, which felt unnecessary and unconnected. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Evahlynn J I mean this is quite not that scary and kinda boring the whole time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Justin T Watching on DVD wasn't the best experience, it was too bright and the subtitles were burnt in and often hard to read due to their colour and poor quality. Otherwise it did have its own style and look which I didn't hate. The sound design was really brilliant and effective. Possibly a little rear heavy and I never thought I'd say that! It is different and unique from the first movie. Even though it is quite slow to start with, it does ramp up to a truly excellent and scary ending.
