Veteran lawman Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges) works for the R.I.P.D., a legendary police force charged with finding monstrous spirits who are disguised as ordinary people but are trying to avoid their final judgment by hiding out among the living. It has its moments -- most of them courtesy of Jeff Bridges' rootin' tootin' performance as an undead Wild West sheriff -- but R.I.P.D. is ultimately too dim-witted and formulaic to satisfy.

R.I.P.D. isn’t nearly as bad as its near-deafening advance buzz indicated – though, really, what movie could be? – but that doesn’t mean the laughs and gasps are satisfyingly abundant in this loud and clunky sci-fi fantasy action-comedy.

This is one of those movies you finish and immediately know it probably has terrible critic reviews—especially from the same critics who praise other genuinely awful movies just because they have some "deeper meaning." This film is simply fun. It’s an action-packed, Men in Black–style movie with an original spin. It’s a great mindless watch in the best way. Nothing about it is meant to make you think deeply, hunt for subtle clues, or analyze spiritual or religious undertones. Instead, it delivers exactly what it sets out to be: an entertaining action movie with some heart, humor, and solid laughs throughout. More movies should be like this, especially in a time when theaters are flooded with superheroes, remakes, and movies clearly chasing Oscars. This one isn’t trying to be anything more than an enjoyable experience—and it succeeds because of that. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an easy Saturday movie or something to throw on when nothing else seems interesting.

Before seeing this, I expected this to be a goofy movie with some action and thats exactly this. I think this movie gets too much hate because they expected more from it and the CGI wasn't the best. The vibe is very MIB and might have been better as a TV series. Overall, if you are looking for something that is funny and different, give it a shot.

I seen this movie had a 1 star, so throughout the film I was trying to figure out why. I watched the movie with friends and family and we all couldn’t figure it out. It was cute, funny, not too inappropriate, and enjoyable. I’d compare it to Ryan Reynolds movie Free Guy. I would recommend this movie.

I loved it. It’s slapstick like Ricky Bobby type comedy. Think Men in Black but the partners are Wyatt ERP type and Egg Chen. Relax with your favorite beverage and enjoy!
