Outlaw Duke Mantel (James Cardwell) dupes singing cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) and his band into providing a diversion while his gang robs a bank nearby, leading to the band members' arrest. After the mistake is cleared up, Gene learns that his friend has inherited a ranch, prompting the band to move there and turn it into a "rest ranch." Soon after, fleeing outlaw accomplice Julie Reeves (Adele Mara) arrives at the ranch, and Gene and the band are drawn into the search for the bank money.

One of the best of the Gene Autry westerns, a pleasant blend of music, drama, comedy and action. Smoothly directed and it has a particularly good supporting cast. Sterling Holloway is terrific. Very entertaining.
