Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 3/5 Dec 24, 2002 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The movie has some good songs and some lively animation, but what bothered me was that most of the interaction between characters was on the level of violence. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle Rated: 2/5 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Malcolm Johnson Hartford Courant For all the technical feats, droll touches and some rooster rockabilly belted out by Glen Campbell, "Rock-a-Doodle" comes off as slight as its title, a cartoon in search of a story to tell. May 30, 2018 Full Review James Plath Family Home Theater The problem . . . as is so often the case with non-Disney animated features, is the concept itself--and that includes a live-action 'frame' that seems gratuitous, even clunky. Rated: C+ Jan 16, 2018 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending It certainly does feel like a dream, albeit the kind you have when you're running a fever and have gotten all messed up on cough medicine. Noe G Rock a doodle is my most favorite Don bluth movie From 1991 I give this film a 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Samantha M Loved this movie as a kid! The owls scared the crap out of me but loved it all the same! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Chloe B Go watch the 2022 Elvis movie then watch this. It makes so much more sense. Amazing Don Bluth animation and a story that needed to be told at a time when Elvis' name had become tarnished, his death made a mockery, the next generation not knowing his story, if even his own generation knew the extent of the abuse at the time. Some people knew, and they wanted to tell his story. If only Elvis had gotten the same happy ending Chanticleer did Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/22 Full Review Cyrus K What is this movie?! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/22 Full Review christopher c. m First problem off the bat, Owls are nocturnal. Which means they sleep during the day, not they're vampires who are repelled by light. Don't see the rain connection to owls either? True, flooding is bad. But the movie says that Chanticleer's chases all rain away for just beautiful blue skies. But farms live and die by the rain. Flooding is not the only way to destroy a farm. Drought as in the lack of rain can destroy a farm, because farms grow crops. Crops are plants and need water, ergo rain. Lastly, did anything happen actually happen in the movie or was it all a dream? It's not really explained one way or another. But it's not all bad. The characters are mostly likable, the music works and it a fun little oddity of a family movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Rock-a-Doodle was an alright film, in my humble opinion. I think you're more likely to enjoy it as a kid, but as an adult, it's great for turning your brain off. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
