Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) French director Thomas Vincent’s feature is lacking in laughs, a genuine marital dynamic, and decent action sequences. Jan 25, 2024 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal Like a guy at a bar telling you a very long joke. You laugh politely each time the story seems to be winding up, which it isn’t, until the fellow brings things to a close by telling you his house burned down just after he made the last mortgage payment. Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Samantha Bergeson indieWire Director Thomas Vincent plays it safe which, for an action comedy hinging on the sexy fascination of spying, makes for a flaccid film all around. Rated: C- Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Ayla Ruby Loud and Clear Reviews Although Role Play has a mega talented cast including Kaley Cuoco and David Oyleowo, muted action can’t spice up this tale of deception and marital mayhem. Rated: 3/5 Oct 20, 2024 Full Review Romey Norton Film Focus Online Role Play overall is a cheesy-action film, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth watching. The story was weak and the characters weren’t compelling enough for me to feel invested - Role Play is an easy film to watch but isn’t one that will have longevity. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Movies We Texted About When it comes to the seductive implications of the title, the film plays out like a first try of the act - it’s awkward, anxious, and unsure of what it’s doing. Sara K Role Play has its moments, namely a bar scene where Bill Nighy’s Bob shows up to throw a wrench into Emma’s life, and as I mentioned above, David Oyelowo is compelling when he’s onscreen. But ultimately, Role Play is lacking in laughs and dynamic action sequences that make these kinds of movies so much fun. Not to mention Emma is not really a heroine we can get behind. I’m glad I finally got around to watching it, but it’s not likely to be one I’ll revisit. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Timothy E Kaley Cuoco was at her best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Tim W I really enjoyed this movie. Entertaining, fun, likeable characters. Really good fun. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Willie D I really wanted to like this but it didn’t give me anything to cling to. The leads just had no chemistry to get behind with David Oyelowo playing the frustratingly same clueless scared goof he’s been doing far too much. David and Kaley had good individual moments but found myself asking why should I care if they make it. There were some good action scenes , but I think it came down to not knowing if it wanted to be an action comedy, action, or what, as well as the leads were miscast. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Jerod S I realize one of the goals is the surprise that Cuoco is able to fight...but it's not believable enough when she does. The marriage feels fake. It's just a meh Mr and Mrs Smith. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Dagnabis B I absolutely loved this movie however it NEEDS SECOND PART PLEASE!!! Gwen Carver did not die, the ending shows how Emma walked away before Gwen dies she stated: “She would of loved to watch her die but her family is waiting for her”, and walked away. This Gwen lady is still alive. And Dave needs to get cured at the hospital, and they need to move away with their new passports that Raj had created for them. PLEASE continue this Movie and create a SECOND part!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
