      Critics Consensus

Claude Lelouch has crafted an engaging thriller about murder and romance with plenty of stylistic panache.

Audience Member Crimes de Autor (2007) #MovieReview 3,0 â?ï¸? Os personagens de uma escritora famosa vão aparecendo na estória e vão se desenrolando em trama curiosa. Nada à (C) o que parece inicialmente. Interessante! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I admit this film is one of my favorites. The farm house, the scenery, the flat affect of the farm family: fabulous! Audrey Dana and her rifle-shooting melt-down at her ex-fiance is gold! The trout fishing scene with Dominique Pinon and the 15-year-old Shayla LeLouche is très, très charmant. And the love story of the understated, genius novelist played by Pinon and the lovely Audrey Dana as the self-doubting Hugette is sweet. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a very good movie, although it does become a bit "long" and somewhat confusing near the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Twisty, meta and suspenseful. A mystery lover's dream come true. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member a tale spun by a pair of complex lenses which focused on the flaws and motives of each character... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Entertaining mystery about crossed fates and ghost writing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The air of Gallic nonchalance ensures you have a lot of fun watching Pinon and Ardant match wits. It's Dana, however, who anchors the story. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 14, 2008 Full Review Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) An engaging, enjoyable slice of suspense from the French. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 14, 2008 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Red herrings abound and audience frustration sets in. It's a pity because the film looks good and the Gilbert Becaud songs on the soundtrack are easy on the ear. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 7, 2008 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com It's awesome to see the director having continued to crank out thought-provoking, challenging and effective cinema even if the film doesn't quite fire on all cylinders. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 21, 2020 Full Review Felicia Feaster Charleston City Paper Lelouch's is a pleasingly serpentine story that will keep viewers guessing. Jan 28, 2020 Full Review Kelly Vance East Bay Express Lelouch's splintered narrative, mostly related in flashback, plays games with the characters without delivering much of a payoff.
