Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 4/5 Feb 10, 2005 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Romance on the High Seas might not be in the top tier of Michael Curtiz classics but the film is worth checking out for Doris Day's perfrmance. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 29, 2020 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row An easy-going crowd pleaser, and it's easy to see why Day became such a huge star - her effervescent, folksy charm feels almost effortless. Rated: 3/4 Jul 15, 2020 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy It may not be as celebrated a film debut as those by Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins or Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not, but Doris Day certainly grabbed everyone's attention when she premiered with a peppy performance in this effervescent comedy. Rated: 3/4 Jul 5, 2020 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Ditected by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca), this musical marks the feature debut of Doris Day, and its best part are the songs, including the Oscar-nominated tune, It's Magic. Rated: B- Aug 17, 2011 Full Review Diana Saenger Classic Movie Guide Romance On The High Seas is a lighthearted comedy with plenty of opportunity to listen to Doris Day sing. David K Entertaining introduction to film goers of Doris Day. Overall, the plot's okay, but it has bits of entertaining moments. The two guys in a bar drowning their sorrows is pretty memorable. And, Doris sings! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Nizar N Doris Day's debut on the big screen was just as great as any of her later performances. The rest of the cast doesn't fail to deliver either. Romance on the High Seas has a funny plot and is definitely worth watching. Above all, it's filmed in splendid technicolor, giving a vibrant look at the world of the 40s, including Rio de Janeiro. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/23 Full Review byron p I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable light hearted movie with a fairly simple (and predictable) plot but fun to watch; first movie for Doris Day. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Tom M Doris Day is perfect in her film debut. The combination of her wonderful voice and breathtaking beauty has rarely been matched since at the movies. Always lovable Carson is great again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/16/21 Full Review Audience Member Super cute movie, mostly a romance with hints of screwball comedy. The plot can get a little confusing at times, but in general it has an interesting story and is well-acted. Doris Day is amazing here, especially considering this is her screen debut. Wish movies like this were more mainstream today. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The best musical romance movie ever made! With the best movie song ever sung: It's Magic!
