Audience Member I stumbled upon this hidden gem of an action/suspense around a year ago, and have to say that the simplicity of the characters, the practical effects, and the stylistic narrative are so niche- I love it. I also was pleasantly surprised that things were not overly complex with the story; that there wasn't plot thickening twists after another. A living example on how to really make a well-thought, and just well-made suspense-action movie. An easy classic for the genre. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Joe D Ranks among the all time greatest car movies. The 450SEL 6.9 was the director’s, Jerry Frankenheimer, own car. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Audience Member Throughout this movie, I felt like it was missing something. It had a bit of a bland/dull style and I felt like they could've had a more enticing set up to it at the beginning that would've made it easier to follow. However, I did like the action and chase sequences in the movie, those were pretty impressive and seemed to be an inspiration behind the Bourne car chases that would be filmed a few years later in Europe as well. I also liked the casting, every name was a big name and it was pretty cool seeing some of these actors together. Some of the moments toward the end were pretty dramatic too. And oh yeah, where was the Sean Bean death????!!! Isn't that supposed to happen in every movie he's in??? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Mate P Ronin is a very good action movie, with awesome car chase scenes, great direction and a really good cast. The characters are great and the mysterious way the audience gets to know them is really engaging. I loved Vincent and Sam's duo, while the supporting characters were interesing too, with simple, but reasonable motivations. The story has a few very surprising twists, while the character decisions and reaction to them remain reasonable. The directing is awesome, because this movie is technically complete. The action sequences are more than ok. The car chases are awesome, they are also well-shot and the editing was great too. With an amazing cast like this it is obvious that the acting isn't going to be bad. Ronin isn't among the best movies of all time, but it is an awesome, super fun watch because of its great action sequences and huge cast.
