Ty Burr Boston Globe A creepy number, half suspense drama and half brooding character study, with a strong dash of local flavor and a low-budget feel. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 28, 2013 Full Review Ronnie Scheib Variety Karpovsky's pic seldom surprises, its strengths lying in a leisurely journey toward a clearly predestined denouement. Feb 25, 2013 Full Review Sara Stewart New York Post One can only watch so many shots of the daily goings-on in a research facility without tuning out a bit. Rated: 2/4 Feb 22, 2013 Full Review Robert Levin amNewYork Alex Karpovsky's performance digs out the character's menacing, damaged and sympathetic qualities in equal measure. ronald h The problem with this film, aside from the derivative plot, is working up sympathy for the characters, who are a bunch of stereotypical white millennials. There is not one likable character. Not one. That includes the protagonist, a sulking, self-absorbed nerdy type played by director Alex Karpovsky. We're expected to be concerned about him. Instead, we wish that somebody would slap him. Karpovsky plays Paul, a research lab technician who becomes romantically hung up on a co-worker (Jaime Ray Newman). After she permits him one night of romance and doesn't want to continue, he becomes obsessed. I'm going to go right ahead and spoil it: He kills her. We learn all about his traumatic childhood, as if anybody cares. There are lots of irrelevant scenes to pad this garbage to 90 minutes. Please don't watch this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay movie with a poor ending Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this! I really got into it from the beginning. I actually had to go all the way to the beginning once I finished and re-watch the first part. I needed to really catch all the details about their fling. I actually missed a few details the first time around. Once I knew the full story, it was easier to tune in so I could truly understand how the story got to where it ended. I am a bit uneasy in how it paints the archetypal "ugly, awkward nerd", because this might confirm a lot of people's notions. I am bit afraid that people might take this a literal lesson on "see, this is why you ignore people like that", rather than it being a story about one damaged, psychotic man. But as a film, I was entertained. The story really pulled me in. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I wasn't expecting much but I'm glad I saw it. The plot will keep you glued throughout. Recommended! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is basically a character study of a deep damaged man who loses control. It's subtle and slow building, but still powerful. Really well acted. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The whole time watching was mostly spent saying- "i bet the only way this guy was cast and this movie was made was because he was in charge of those choices" and ....BLAM #truth Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
