Having already left three grooms at the altar, Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts) is branded "the runaway bride" by jaded city journalist Ike Graham (Richard Gere). But, after his facts are called into question, Ike races to Maggie's hometown to save his reputation and report on her upcoming fourth trip down the aisle -- during which he's convinced she'll run again. Though he's there on a muckraking mission, Ike can't help but fall for this breathtaking heartbreaker.

Why does Runaway Bride feel so off? Why does it produce such halfhearted laughter? This is the sort of Hollywood tale in which everything seems to have been decided by committee. Go to Full Review

Julia Roberts, as a small-town charmer with a history of breaking off engagements at the altar, and Richard Gere, as a reporter sent to write about her, still deliver a perfectly pleasant rom-com. Go to Full Review

Saber G @SaberGreen 3d A movie that could be entertaining if you’re into simple romantic comedies and if you value a wedding as the most important event in a woman’s life. If not: you are probably bored out of your eyeballs, just like I was. The scenes look Hallmark-pretty en that’s kind of cute. But all the time I kept wondering: why get married and putting yourself through all this misery? Stop making marriage so important… To me this film is mainly a waste of great acting talents like Julia Roberts,Richard Gere en Joan Cusack and an accomplished director like Gerry Marshall. Such a shame… See more Blu B 4d Well you'd think reuniting this iconic couple with the same director would be like reuniting Newman & Redford in The Sting to get lighting twice. Instead...it's just a harmless dud. To it's credit the location and backgrounds are really nice to look at. Reminds me a New England style autumn town. If you look behind everything happening it's a good film I guess. But the actual scenes themselves are just ok. Music and acting is decent and defintely this films other stronger points. Some of the tracks are more generic and forgettable though. To everyones credit everyone is trying here but the dialouge is kind of clunky and awkward. The humor that runs throughout this also is just flat and that humor/dialouge weighs a lot of this down. Than the actual final wedding is just so stupid. How does the FedEx driver not stop and tell her to get off...like seriously. Gere & Roberts here are just...ok. They really don't have much chemistry at all but they aren't terrible either. But the biggest blo See more She C @SheKnows Feb 4 Runaway Bride is a fun and whimsical take on one of the more serious facets of life. Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are naturals and attractive in any role along with Joan Cusack, who is always a great addition to any comedy! The surprising cameos and guest appearances make for an interesting supporting cast, especially the uncredited role of Betty Trout by Laurie Metcalf. Lacked romantic sparkle. See more Rob A Jun 18 If Pretty Woman was so much better, then why have I seen this four times over the years? (Probably twice for the former.) Adorable rom-com here displaying once again the incredible chemistry between these two. Don't believe the naysayers. This is a great movie for couples; I'm a guy in my 50's and I loved it.
