Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning serves as a magnificent, bittersweet piece in the story of Kenshin Himura. It manages to balance the need to show Kenshin as the Battousai, while never losing sight of Kenshin the human.

"Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning" has some issues, but in general emerges as a well-shot, rather entertaining film that also concludes (?) the live action saga of one of the most iconic anime/manga heroes in the most impressive and most fitting way.

The best movie in the series. Brilliant directorial moments scattered throughout the film, the cinematography take on a new level of maturity, as does the atmosphere and the score is perfectly imbedded in the heavy moments where it's needed. As mentioned by other reviewers, this film makes the entire series must see.
