Anthony Lane The New Yorker Schwartzman is cautious but stubbornly optimistic, while Murray is possessed by the mania of near-despair... They make the best and most disconcerting odd couple that American movies have produced in a long while. Mar 17, 2014 Full Review Desson Thomson Washington Post Rushmore is an almost indefinable genre of its own. A comedy with a menacing edge? An ironic romance? Hard to call. Anderson, the director and co-writer, and Wilson, co-writer, have a vision like no one else's. Mar 17, 2014 Full Review Jonathan Foreman New York Post A quirky, sometimes hilarious and often touching comic fable. Mar 17, 2014 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight Rushmore” is an interesting movie that will appeal to a very small audience, but will nonetheless impress. Rated: 3/4 Oct 4, 2023 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a consistently watchable yet thoroughly erratic endeavor that fares best in its briskly-paced and tremendously entertaining first half... Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 12, 2023 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) It’s a bittersweet tale about growing up, anchored by sensational turns from the cast and a pitch-perfect script. Alexis C It would be good if it wasn't for the slight pedophilic angle and the constant presentation of the women as objects for the men. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Mason M I think that Rushmore is definitely Wes Anderson's best. Rushmore was the first R rated movie I had ever watched alone and it is a perfect movie, especially for a teenager. This film really resonated with me when I first saw it as a teenager and it has stuck with me. This is definitely Robert Yeoman's (the cinematographer) best work, it perfectly fills the 2.35:1 aspect and makes every shot have a purpose. Jason Schwartzman delivers one of my favorite performances of all time, even though it was his first role. Rushmore stands out in Anderson's filmography because it has a sort of emotional honesty that most films don't, the characters are flawed, they all do bad things to each other but they grow, they remain ashamed of what they've done but they grow. I would like to think that Anderson was a variation on Max Fischer at some point because this movie has a sense of emotion that can only be found from personal experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Alan g Sick and twisted. A teacher involved with a student? No wonder we have so many of these illegal relationships. And a dirty old man to complete the triangle. Unfunny. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Antonio E Minuto 25:37 : 😳😳😳 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Nevin C Wes’s best. His dry humor dialogue worked so great in a not so make believe setting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Christian K Really incredible soundtrack, the subject matter and themes are maybe a little dark for the setting and tone, but I enjoyed it.
