Phil Hoad Guardian The initial tone of impish mayhem shifts into something grim and rote, ill-serving frontman Kotik. Rated: 2 Mar 19, 2021 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See "...a bunch of gnarly Russian dudes pounding one another into oblivion. That's why Russian Raid exists, and that's why it's fun as hell to watch." Yeah, that about sums it up. Audience Member In full disclosure I do not know much about Russian film making. For me this fun and exciting, and somewhat humorous film, is very unusually shot. There is a lot of action in this martial arts, action, revenger drama about a former soldier seeking revenge against the man who killed his father. Police corruption, organized crime, and toxic masculinity abound in this one. The many fight scenes are good, but filmed in a very "speeded up" way, which somewhat detracts from them; however, it is highly watchable. The star is an intentionally unemotional and precise fighter with some good screen presence. This made me wonder if this was filmed in a Russian style, or filmed specifically for release outside Russia. This complex me to want to see more Russian action films. The film is subtitled.
