Lisa Kennedy New York Times The real hiccup in this retelling — directed by Alanna Brown — is the way the screenwriters lean on familiarity with the source material and hurry the love story. Sep 26, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy A slightly above average streaming title whose biggest accomplishment is discovering Alanna Brown, a far more competent director than the producer of this film. Brown could be the future of Tyler Perry Studios if Perry could get out of his own way. Rated: 64/100 Oct 19, 2025 Full Review Marlon Wallace The M Report (WBOC.com) The film seems to prefer Babyface over Jermaine Dupri. It suggests that Ruth prefers one over the other. The film never explains why. Both are great record producers. Oct 9, 2025 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media Attractive stars and settings make this Tyler Perry-produced romance passable, but a voiceover narration almost sinks the whole production. Rated: 3/5 Oct 6, 2025 Full Review Haleluya Hadero Christianity Today For all the effort it takes trying to force an old story into our modern context of HR and sexual consent norms, the film also chooses not to explore some of the biggest plot points of the biblical narrative Oct 3, 2025 Full Review John Serba Decider Ruth and Boaz will almost certainly inspire you to pray – for a better movie. Kandace S It was a cute movie but the love story is rushed. There wasn’t enough there for me to truly root for the characters. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/12/25 Full Review Nicole N Very sweet! I would watch it again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Jocelyn D Ruth & Boaz is a great movie that delivers as intended. It will have your emotions go from holding back tears, to talking to the screen and then the warmth of the sweetness of love. Great job cast and crew. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/25 Full Review Rod W I found the story line somewhat interesting, however, it was very cookie cutter. The was the good person who made some bad choices and when that person wanted to change found that they were actually indebted to some evil sources. So, a typical run away from bad to a better lace thinking the past was behind but only to find the past locate her and come to claim what was thought to be his. Confrontation between the good guy and bad guy…..etc. This is what made the movie rather boring. Good actors and pleasing scenery does not a solid movie make. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie and I think that says enough. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/08/25 Full Review Sahra M cringey. corny. predictable. this is a high budget tubi movie. i’m not even christian and can clearly see this is a mockery of there faith. tyler perry movies used to be entertaining dramedys and now are just cringe 😬 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/07/25 Full Review Juan R In one word: trite. What a waste of talents. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
