      Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus

Now Playing 1h 43m Documentary Music Biography List
100% Tomatometer 30 Reviews 83% Audience Score Fewer than 50 Ratings A celebration of an artist's life in the purest sense, Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus is the definitive swan song of one of the world's greatest musicians. In late 2022, as a parting gift, Ryuichi Sakamoto mustered all of his energy to leave us with one final performance: a concert film featuring just him and his piano. Curated and sequenced by Sakamoto himself, the twenty pieces featured in the film wordlessly narrate his life through his wide-ranging oeuvre. The selection spans his entire career, from his pop-star period with Yellow Magic Orchestra and his magnificent scores for filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci to his meditative final album,12. Intimately filmed in a space he knew well and surrounded by his most trusted collaborators, including director Neo Sora, his son, Sakamoto bares his soul through his exquisitely haunting melodies, knowing this was the last time he would be able to present his art. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian The austerity of the film-making affords a rare chance to meditate on his range and the variety of his work as well as the consistency of his voice as a composer. bystander o 因为豆瓣莫名其妙的审核(烦透了审查,明明什么都没写),把教授NHK纪录片last days的影评发到这里: 这一年来,想象了好久教授去世前的最后两年是怎么度过的,想象他住院的时候,想象他回纽约的时候,想象他在东京散步,看云彩的流动和满月的微光,想象他看东北乐团哭泣的样子(没想到教授比我想象中的还要动情和伤心啊...... 教授,今日もおやすみなさい🌛 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/11/24 Full Review Ben W This music is perfectly decent piano bar stuff. The mood it does often summon, is quite nice. Given the setting, fact the man soon after died, elegiac air, I had tears in my eyes to begin with. There was then a prolonged picture, of the piano stool's leg. And. Perhaps we return, to a bigger problem, that is , almost how to listen to music- absolutely fair enough, pay attention to the person speaking to you. However. On a train, I don't want to watch the wheels- I don't actually have to see the violin's bow. Thank you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
