Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint Pannu and Pednekar are wonderful and spunky and embrace their parts even though their body language and posture is variable. Bakshi and Arjun provide admirable support. Oct 25, 2019 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar's body language is wrong. Their faces are made old by latex, but their hands and necks are young. Crucially, at no point do they make us suspend disbelief. Rated: 2/5 Oct 25, 2019 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian This feels like a waste of rich narrative possibilities, as mechanically feelgood as those two dozen Britflicks that have cast Dames Dench, Smith et al as old dears who shoot from the lip. Rated: 2/5 Oct 24, 2019 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV Like its plucky sexagenarian protagonists, Saand Ki Aankh shoots straight and sharp. Rated: 3/5 Jul 15, 2020 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy [A] solidly entertaining piece of "girl power" masala that I found roundly engaging and worth a watch. Jan 18, 2020 Full Review Musanna Ahmed Film Inquiry As good as Saand Ki Aankh may be (which is about half good), practices like this shouldn't be supported, and this is coming from Anurag Kashyap's biggest fan. Sanjay B (Bull Eye) is an inspirational movie based on the true story of two 60+ years old woman who earned good name by winning dozens of medals in shooting game in that age and that too against all odds and opposition by the family. These ladies gave interviews in many TV channels including Amir Khans TV show Satyamev Jayate. Few good things about the movie are wonderful acting by the actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Prakash Jha and others, some good hilarious punchlines as well as emotional scenes, hard hitting dialogues and peppy songs. The movie tells about the exploitation of women in India and how they fought back against it. The couple in maharaja and maharani roles were quite dignified and impressive. Few things that I did not like was the horrible makeup that was put upon Taapsi and Bhumi. Taapsi could not act well and also the director has tempered the story as per his own choice to make it more dramatic. Editing could have been more crisp. Few scenes could have been more effective. My rating for the movie is 3/5 for the efforts, story and performances. At BO, it will have a hard luck due to the lack of audience in watching these kinds of movies and multiple releases. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/28/19 Full Review Audience Member The beautiful two women fight the patriarchy with sharpshooter. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member 'Saand ki Aankh' is a such a big drag that felt like having been dragged physically by its inconsequentiality, when this over-long saga did not give much chance to ride along a spirit that it occasionally missed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Hits the bull's-eye. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member 'Saand Ki Aankh' is the most invariably engaging film I have seen in recent times. It hits just the right storytelling buttons and expertly makes all of them devoid of cheap emotional manipulation. A wonderful celebration of women empowerment that's invariably entertaining, the film has a bunch of flaws: the characters of men and women both have no layers at all. The narrative is finely scripted but the direction largely goes crude and insipid. The film sometimes treads on the most familiar of paths- and it's a mass masala movie attempt as a whole. But the film isn't aiming to be an audacious flight of fancy: it's strength lies in the robust rural tone, restrained romanticism of a true story of two Haryana middle-aged women who took to shooting at the age of bringing up there grandchildren, and the way they fight the men of there households. In these moments, the film finds solace. And that's good, because the film is entertaining. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member nice movie on a living legend must watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
