Anna (Virginie Ledoyen) is a cleaning woman who accepts a post at the St. Ange Orphanage. She arrives to confront an unsettling lack of orphans, save for one (Lou Doillon) who acts far too childish for her age. Then the bizarre sights and sounds begin, which seem to elude detection by the only other servant (Dorina Lazar) or the gloomy institution's director (Catriona MacColl). Is this all in Anna's mind? Or does something more sinister lurk in the heart of St. Ange?

Amie Simon I Love Splatter ... appropriately bleak (like a horror movie should be), and atmospherically, one of the better ghost stories I've seen. Mar 12, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Its not a horror movie in the sense of Saw, but it is a beautifully filmed movie with a deep story set shortly after WWII that i reccomend to those of you who like eerie, creeping-in-the-halls kinds of movies similar to The Woman in Black. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member From the director of "Martyrs", "Saint Ange" follows the same path : a soft start, written as a 50's horror movie, and fall in a totally disturbing world during the second part. Only recommended for horror moviegoers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Suspense created by confusing the audience. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Strange movie. Lots of dramatic music . Done very well Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review jesse o What a weak ass way to end my Halloween month horror fest. Just a terrible movie in all its forms. Incoherent story, horrible acting, poor pacing that lacks the creepy atmosphere it likes to pretend it has. This movie borrows heavily from other, better films. It reminds me of The Others, one of the best horror movies of the past decade. I can't really understand what this film was truly trying to achieve. I think there's a message about the meaning of motherhood to someone who doesn't exactly want to be a mother, probably due to the circumstances which led her to being pregnant in the first place. Of course it does this in the least effective way possible. Not to mention the plot about the children that were hidden and/or disappeared. I don't even know how many of the situations in the film even occurred, they just pop out of nowhere with no rhyme or reason. Just terrible exposition. And I found the main character to be one of the most unlikable I've seen in a while. There's nothing about Anna that was even remotely sympathetic. This is a woman who's supposedly trying to help these hidden children, victims of sick experiments, apparently, since even that isn't made clear, but the way she goes about helping them is pretty fucked. She drowns kittens, and blames someone else, in order to manipulate a person to join her side. What a fucking bitch. What person, who supposedly has good intentions, drowns kittens in order to manipulate someone. I don't think it was supposed to be morally ambiguous, like Anna was an anti-heroine, it didn't come across like that at all. The pacing makes this feel at least 3 times longer than it actually is. I was almost put to sleep by this movie to be perfectly honest. It's THAT uninteresting. I can't even really accurately describe how bad this movie truly is. You may think I've done a good job describing it, but the film is worse than that. Just a terrible way to end the month. There's no real reason for this movie to exist when there are so many other movies like this that are better. It has, rightfully, faded into obscurity. Really bad movie here. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This 'movie' (if you believe it is) is really silly. Complete waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
