Phil Hoad Guardian The showpiece scenes are absolutely top-notch, ransacking every piece of set in range, with the camera lurching on unpredictable diagonals, as kinetic as the performers. Rated: 3/5 Jul 17, 2023 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Yen clearly put some work into transposing the wuxia novel’s romantic and often incredible conventions into a live-action movie. “Sakra” is not light on its feet, but it is a surprisingly well-realized star vehicle and adaptation. Rated: 3/4 Apr 14, 2023 Full Review Joshua Polanski Boston Hassle Fighting aside, Sakra, like its superhero peers, is admittedly a bit overcrowded. Jul 7, 2024 Full Review Jacob Walker Starburst ... An enjoyable but cookie-cutter wuxia film designed to entertain but not enthrall you. Sep 7, 2023 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid The result is frequently confusing, and the 130-minute running time doesn't help, but the moments of clarity that do emerge, and the glorious action, make it worth a look. Rated: 3/4 Jun 17, 2023 Full Review Lee Jutton Film Inquiry Donnie Yen might not be King Hu behind the camera, but he’s still a joy to watch in front of it — even in a weaker wuxia like Sakra. racheal K I absolutely loved the movie, donnie yen was just 1 of the amazing actors , I felt the betrayal , the lies and loss ... I'd watch anything with or by donnie yen he's, again and Amazing actor, producer and kung fu artist I can't wait to see the sequel Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review Micheal T So I'm only giving it a 4\5 bc I love Donnie but I'm bothered that the trailer itself has a quote from professional "reviewers \critics" stating "it makes IP Man look like a schoolyard scuffle." You wanna see "air bending" this is for you. You can't compare IP Man to a fantastical movie like this. It's great; full of action, always great Martial arts from Donnie as well as he's just a great actor IMO. I'm not surprised the movie had reviews as it did bc of course all critics want to do is hype or hate it but if you're a professional critic don't compare completely different genres to get your point across. "Crouching tiger hidden dragon, House of flying dagger" would've been more suitable comparison to the type of film this is. Nothing remotely close to "IP Man" other than Donnie. Kthanksbye. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Marcia G Excellent movie, action packed! Donnie Yen never disappoints. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Juan O Absolutely 10/10, the greatest martial arts action packed movie I have seen since IP Man. Beautifully made. Must watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Jerod S He's the leader of a clan of outcasts and has been accused of murder. His search for truth leads to a lot of people out to kill him. It's a long Chinese story that's hard to follow. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Nicholas L Donnie Yen should leave directing to the experts.
