Audience Member I have the DVD for a few years I love love love this movie!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member A great historical film about the slave-master relationship between President Jefferson and Sally Hemmings. This film has some of the most believable acting I have ever seen. It is emotional, poignant and ever bittersweet. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Superior made-for-TV fare, with solid acting, orchestral music score and cinematography. In fact it would probably look pretty good on one of the smaller screens of a multiplex theatre, or a school auditorium. It's also reasonably accurate historically, even if there's some necessary dramatic fictionalizing. About the only scenes that are clunkers are those set in Paris when Sally helps the protestor steal some bread, then benefits from his intervention in turn. Not necessary to the story anyway--best left on the editing room floor. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Thomas Jefferson's Slave Mistress's Story.Almost as good as Jefferson in Paris. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The private life of U.S present Thomas Jefferson relating his intimate relationship with a slave girl who he fathered children with.. Big revelation! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a fantastic movie. It made me laugh, made me cry, and increased my respect for our history. I felt such sympathy for Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. It's so sad when society will not recognize love between two people. It's just as true today, as gay people fight for the right to marry.
