Kevin Carr 7M Pictures The target audience is so alarmingly narrow that I don't see it appealing to anyone outside of the girls that buy the dolls. Rated: 2/5 Jan 5, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

victor o I have been a fan of AnnaSophia Robb for many years, marveling at her acting talent ever since she was a girl, and now that she is a grown woman, I've wanted to see more of her career from the beginning. This movie is one of the earliest and I can see now why she's had such a great career. Based on the American Girl Collection novels, AnnaSophia Robb plays Samantha Parkington, a sweet, young girl that is the picture of affluence in the early 1900s as she lives happily in her well-to-do life but ends up seeking adventures from walks outside her home and becoming friends with her servants. To get to know her uncle's fiancé and the life that they live in the city while getting to know some of the hardships that she has never seen from growing up privileged. This was a beautiful movie, a period piece that shows the enlightenment of life at the beginning of the 20th century through the eyes of a child. Truly a gem of a movie with phenomenal acting from its young lead. There is no question that AnnaSophia Robb was a born actress and a great one at that. She and the rest of the cast worked a marvel here. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Briliant movie, very good and cheerful, unfortunately underrated, hope one day more people will know about it. Love it ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member What a wonderful movie for children to see what life was like at the turn of the century. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member This is surprisingly a good movie. The leading lady (Samantha) has a unique charm about her that really brings the character to life. She's a rich girl, who isn't snobby. Nellie, Samantha's friend who is a poor maid is also a realistic character. She's just a girl, not a warrior, and this movie shows that. She isn't jealous of Samantha for being in a wealthy family, because she understands that both of her parents died, and she has hurt and pain in her life as well, just a different kind of difficulty, or empty hole, in life. I also like how it shows the difficult theme of child labor without it being too jarring. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my absolute favorite American Girl movies Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I watch this everyday!!!
