Audience Member I rarely come by movies as predictable, unnecessary, and unintelligent as Sam's Lake. This film has no point to it, past being another addition to the thousands of straight to DVD horror movies. There are so many problems with this movie, it's hard for me to know where to begin. I guess I'll do this with a list of complaints I have about this movie. 1) For all the unnecessary exposition and dialogue, this movie never even attempts to make the audience feel anything towards it's characters. 2) The dialogue between the characters seems so forced and awkward, that's it became impossible for me to believe these characters were all friends. 3) The supposed "twist" near the end was so predictable that it's beyond pathetic that the filmmakers would even call it a twist. 4) The second twist is even more obvious than the first, so much so that I had predicted all that this film had to surprise me with, before any of the characters began dying. 5) Note to director: The key to making a horror movie scary is to make the audience feel for the characters, so don't start killing off the serial killers and expect to create suspense from that, because the audience won't feel any sympathy for them. 6) For all the running around the characters do when they're being chased, it's beyond pathetic how no excitement is generated. 7) If someone you knew was all cut up, bloody, and began walking towards you, you wouldn't just stand still and keep on repeating that persons name. I think most people would run away or to quote a character from the movie, "GET THE F--K OUTTA HERE!!" 8) When you and your friends are in a creepy old house where several people were murdered and you start hearing screams from upstairs, you wouldn't scream at the top of your lungs, "GET THE F--K OUTTA HERE!!" If I haven't already convinced you not to watch this movie, go ahead, watch it, and see for yourself how bad it is. I've done all that I can as a critic to steer you away from this film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member A descent horror flick with a pretty interesting plot. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good and scary movie never saw that ending coming! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member sam's lake is a stylish and well directed film that features no name actors who give an above average performance than others in horror films. the storyline is good but it has a twist at the end that doesn't really make much sense. it barely has any blood and it fails to delivers thrils and chills. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Better than average horror film, but it's very familiar and lacks originality. It does have some scares, the acting isn't too bad.Good lighting, poor sound, decent score. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Holy mother flipping crap, dude. That I wasn't expecting. (December 30, 2011) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Prairie Miller NewsBlaze Sufficiently subtle and tasteful carnage, if those are suitably chosen words for what's in store. And the females, whether with good or bad intentions, rise above the usual scream queen hottie in distress roles, to flex their rough stuff too. Mar 5, 2009 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Avid horror fans will find Sam's Lake to be a stylish and well-edited, but mostly tedious and bland horror film lacking in thrills, chills or any real surprises. Rated: 4.0/10 Mar 4, 2009 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson L.A. Weekly The nicest one can say about Sam's Lake is that it's well-shot, and that its major plot twist is genuinely surprising...if only because it makes no sense at all.
